Help Support Misty Moore’s Rare Cancer Expenses

Donation protected
It all started with a swollen lymph node back in May 2018. We had no health insurance at the time so we paid out of pocket to see doctors but no one could figure out what it was.

September 2018 my husband got a temporary job with the Beto for Senate campaign trail and we are secured  Health insurance. Immediately I went to the doctor and had a CT scan done and they found lesions of concern.

Later that month I ended up in the ER due to pain and had a biopsy done which revealed a very rare case of Medullary Thyroid Cancer. First I had  A full hysterectomy to remove a 10 cm benign tumor in my uterus.

After that we secured a doctor at M.D. Anderson in Houston who came up with treatment plans for the cancer which was diagnosed at stage four.

I received another surgery called a full thyroidectomy. January 15, 2019. They removed my thyroid and 60 lymph nodes from my neck.

Medullary Thyroid Cancer  is a very rare thyroid cancer that affects only 1% of thyroid cancers. It is very aggressive and is usually diagnosed at stage four because it has no symptoms and then all symptoms at once.

It is terminal. The cancer has spread to my bones, lungs, liver.  I have tumors on my sternum, all up and down my spine, and the cancer has already eaten away a bone in my pelvis that was holding up my hip replacement that I received for years ago from a car accident.

The cancer has also eaten away bone in my spine and has broken the T5 and T9 bones causing much pain.

I have four beautiful children all under the age of 16 years old. My youngest son Merrick will be six in May, my daughter Roman is nine, my son Merric I have four beautiful children all under the age of 16 years old. My youngest son Merrick will be six in May, my daughter Roman is nine, my son  Tristan is 10, and my oldest Aidyn is 16 years old. I have a wonderful husband of eight years name Micah and my mother Linda and my  stepfather Javier live with us.

I am currently without health insurance again because my husband‘s job ended when Beto did not win for Senate.  MD Anderson only excepts PPOs from employers, Medicaid, and Medicare. Unfortunately I am not a candidate for Medicaid or Medicare and because of my condition I cannot work. My husband is self-employed and therefore we cannot secure a PPO. M.D. Anderson does not except the marketplace healthcare or any HMOs.

It is very expensive for medications, travel, lodging, treatments, and all the rest that comes with this type of disease. We are constantly in search of help from friends for childcare, and caretaking for myself and my family during these constant trips that require me to travel from my home in North Dallas to Houston.

Currently I am at M.D. Anderson right now receiving radiation treatments to my pelvis, and proton therapy treatments to my sternum tumors and spine tumors.

Please help in any amount that you can and know that it is greatly appreciated! My family and myself thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support! More updates to come!

Although this has been extremely rough on our whole family we remain positive and I still have a lot of fight in me!
