Help DJ Cadette Rebuild After Irma

Donation protected
Hurricane IRMA has affected so many people in South Florida however it decimated those living in Key West, FL.

As many of you know, there was a mandatory evacuation in Monroe County for those living in the low lying areas near the water on September 7, 2017. Today, September 17, was the first first day those same evacuees could return, with extreme caution, to assess the damages to their properties. Among those was USN Reservist and dear friend to many, Petty Officer Second Class DJ Cadette.

Cadette joined the US Navy Reserves in 2009 as a Cosntruction Mechanic. He has been part of NCHB 12, NMCB 14, and most recently ACB2. DJ is not only a friend but a brother to those who have served with him throughout the years. He is that guy you can count on in good and bad times.

Cadette was able to reach his home located in Big Pine Key near MM30 on September 17th. He had been able to seen some photos of the are and headed home hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. The drive was a nightmare full of destruction to homes and business that once were part of the landscape. His driveway was cluttered with debris and fallen trees. Although his shutters appeared intact he had to break through the door due to the swelling of the wood. He mentioned it looked as if someone had body slammed his refrigerator, and tossed furniture about from room to room. Mold had already began forming inside and the smell was unbearable. DJ was able to locate one of his propane tanks in the backyard which was now a swamp. Cadette mentioned his home had been part of the ocean during the storm.

Although he was able to evacuate with personal belongings, documents, and some of his military uniforms he was not able to take his tools which are his livelihood as a contractor. He has lost all his possessions but the loss of all his tools represents a major loss of income as well.

I understand many of us are tight on funds, however I am respectfully requesting to please give what you can to assist DJ Cadette get back on his feet as I'm sure Cadette would do if it was the other way around.

His military family will do everything they can to assist DJ during this time. But due to the magnitude of his loss more hands are needed to facilitate his recovery.

GOD BLESS YOU. Any contribution is much appreciated.
