Clocktower Restoration

Donation protected
In 1883, the planning and construction of Thomaston's Town Hall was supervised by R. W Hill of Waterbury, CT. The structure embodies an impressive Seth Thomas Tower Clock helping to portray a sense of artistic creativity and engineering ingenuity. The Town Hall building created a symbolic identity that permanently altered Thomaston's appearance.  In February 1904 Seth Thomas Tower Clock was installed in the Town Hall Tower.

One hundred and three years later The Clock Tower Restoration Committee was formed on September 6, 2007.  The purpose of this committee is to raise funds and oversee the repairs of the Tower Clock .  This clock is a significant historical piece of the Town of Thomaston.

In May 2009 Phase I replacement of the stairs leading to the clock faces was completed.   Phase II of our project was the replacement of the cracked face, restoring the three remaining faces and repairs to the wooden bezels that hold the faces into the clock tower structure.  The numbering on the south facing dial was completed recently but other repairs are still needed.  Currently the timing mechanism is in need of some repairs in order to get the clock running again.

Please help us repair this magnificent piece of our town history.
