Cliona's Yukon Expedition 2018

My name is Cliona McCheyne I am 16 years old and a fifth year pupil at Dunoon Grammar School.
I have recently applied for, and been lucky enough to be accepted on, a British Exploring Expedition to the Canadian Yukon in 2018.

which was established in 1932 is a youth development charity which promotes adventure activity as a means to personal growth. Following the lines of their motto ‘adventure with purpose’, they go to remote wilderness settings where the explorers (like me) carry out important scientific fieldwork that often contributes to wide reaching projects.
It offers the opportunity to go somewhere and do things that I never really imagined having the chance to do. The expedition itself is designed to take you out of your comfort zone in a challenging environment with a real focus on skills and personal development whilst the journey to expedition - which includes the planning and fundraising experience, is one of the key benefits in this venture. Also, I am considering studying Earth Sciences at University, and feel that the scientific element of this trip will not only allow me to confirm my interest but also dramatically enhance my UCAS application, and hence my ability to get into the University of my choice.
When I undertake a task I fully commit; I am one of only four pupils who during the last academic year at Dunoon Grammar School achieved 7 'A' grade passes at National 5 level. I am the youngest girl to have climbed all of Scotland's 282 mountains over 3,000 feet in height and I was recently selected to represent Scotland at the British & Irish Junior Hill Running Championships at which we won the team silver medal.
I am approaching you to request assistance with funding my dream. I would be truly appreciative for any amount you could donate towards my expedition.
Having split my costs into daily denominations, I would ideally like sponsorship for 1 day of the expedition, amounting to £190 but if you could cover half a day at £95 or give any other figure that you feel comfortable with then I would be very greatful.
I am being proactive by volunteering each week at Oxfam which earns me funding through a social action top-up bursary scheme called Explorer Miles and I am arranging other fundraising events such as lottery draws and a series of physically demanding sponsorship 'Challenges', which I plan are going to pay for my flights and necessary technical equipment.
Over the coming months I shall also be busy concentrating on preperation for my Higher examinations and training twice a week with Inverclyde Athletic Club for whom I shall often be competing at weekends.
Thank you for your consideration and any help you may decide to give me as I initiate my fundraising journey. I shall be generating media coverage and be more than pleased to acknowledge any assistance provided.
