Six years ago I was struck down with a Life changing Illness G.B.S.I spent four and years in Hospital and Rehab before I made it home, It was a long journey having to learn to breathe on my own and learn to speak and swallow. I have had tremendous support from my wife and Family as well as Friends, outside this circle I have had other support from James Cook Hospital, Teesside M.S. Group, Tees Neuro Physio and The My Life Group. But more recently I have had great Support from St Teresa's Hospice Darlington and The Darlington Keyring Group both fantastic organizations for caring for one's wellbeing and giving people some purpose in life and much more whatever your disability. It is, for this reason, I would like to fundraise for Both St Teresa's Hospital and the Keyring Group Darlington. I was a keen Fell walker and miss this amongst many other things very much. I could not believe my ears when one of my carers husbands David Barugh said how would you like to get back up the fells, I said I would love to but in this wheelchair, it would d be impossible. David said not if I design and fabricate one for you, we are up for it. In a fabricated chair, David and his friends from the Eaglescliffe running Club are going to carry me up Latrigg at Keswick on the 8th of June. I will be taking Sarah a nurse from my care company with me and Bev is taking me there. We may have some media coverage as Xavier and Poppy who are making a documentary on G.B.S for the B.B.C and are keen to come along and film it. I am not asking for large donations for the above charity's and even fifty pence from everyone would soon add up.
