Climbing Kilimanjaro
Tax deductible
This wednesday I leave to Africa to unite with women from around the world, climb up to 19000 feet and play 90 min of soccer to hopefully break a Guinness World Record. The event is put on by EqualPlayingField I, however, believe this group of women has a task much more important than a record.
I personaly have been inspired to climb this mountain for Yuliana, a 7 yr old girl who was horrendously murdered in a building where I rented an AirBNB just days later. (I didnt realize what had happened until the 3rd day when I stopped by the front of the building to read the signs and saw the hashtags. This was back in December) By then the shock of it all was really confirming for me that Gonzo Soccer Peace Foundation surviving in Colombia could maybe put a piece back together from all the violence caused by drugs.
For this reason, we have decided to join the Equal Playing Field series of soccer clinics that will be taking place across the world following our trip and will have a free soccer clinic in Pereira, Colombia in July. We would like to bring in some Superpoderosas and have a free showing of La Golda, the new animation of a Colombian girl who loves futbol and standing up for what´s right and need your help to make this happen. Your donations are tax deductible and will go towards helping ensure Gonzo can support these female pro players to make the clinic and subsequent Gonzo academy in Pereira remain permanently.
Now you see how Yuliana inspired me to get back in shape after 6 yrs off and use my voice to take action in honor of a young princess who no longer has one. This is the flag Im carrying to the top of the mountain. Actually, I am pretty sure this flag will carry me and maybe a few others as well. I believe the energy and motivations of all the women coming on this trip can and will unite along with way, and what comes after is what must truly bring change. Thank you for your support and if you have a name you would like me to add to the flag, please send BY THIS FRIDAY and I will write with a Sharpie take it to the top of Kilimanjaro so that our angels can watch out together over girls across the world.
