Trekking Mt. Kilimanjaro for Movember!

Over the next eight months, we will host a series of events, competitions and other fundraising activities. Please show your support and donate towards this amazing cause.
Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 5,895m, is Africa’s highest peak and the world’s highest freestanding mountain. This challenge will see us take on a 7-day trek through the forest, high alpine deserts and ice fields, racking up over 5000m of elevation in the hope of summiting this beast! We are taking on this challenge to raise funds for Movember.
Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health on a global scale, focusing on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The charity raises funds to deliver innovative, breakthrough research and support programmes that enable men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Movember is working to encourage men to stay healthy in all areas of their life and to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.
To ensure we are properly prepared, we are taking on this challenge with Earth’s Edge. Established in 2007, they specialise in adventure trips such as high altitude trekking and mountaineering expeditions in some of the world’s most stunning locations.
Itinerary:
DAY 1
Depart Dublin.
DAY 2
Arrive in Tanzania.
DAY 3
Machame Gate (1,490m) to Machame Camp (2,980m), 7 hrs trekking.
DAY 4
Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m), 6 hrs trekking.
DAY 5
Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950m), 7 hrs trekking.
DAY 6
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,000m), 5 hrs trekking.
DAY 7
Karanga Camp to Kosovo Camp (4,800m), 5 hrs trekking.
DAY 8
Kosovo Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,896m) to Millennium Camp (3,832m), 14 hrs trekking.
DAY 9
Millennium Camp to Arusha, 6 hrs trekking.
Fundraising Costs:
- A minimum of €6,000 fundraised will go directly to Movember.
- Return international flights from Dublin to Kilimanjaro
- Experienced Irish/UK expedition leader
- Experienced Irish/UK expedition doctor
- Training Weekend
- Local guides, porters and support staff
- All accommodation and meals
- All transport throughout the expedition
- National Park fees
- All group gear consists of first aid kits, mountaineering equipment, cooking equipment etc.
- Use of state of the art tents
- Expedition clothing and supplies.
