Climb Over Cancer with Rick

Friends and Family, I’ll get right to the point – our son, Rick, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. 
 


Lymphoma is a cancer of the blood.  Stage 4 means that they have found cancer in his bone marrow.  Mental and spiritual strength play a large role in a person’s ability to combat this disease.  Stress attacks and undermines this strength.  Rick’s biggest stress, apart from fighting cancer, is financial. To risk stating the obvious, cancer care is expensive.

 
Rick can no longer work due to the toll this disease has taken on him, and the effects of chemotherapy further amplify his constant fatigue.  He has lost over 20 pounds.   He has wiped out his savings of over $10,000 for medical bills, which he had intended to use for a house down payment.  And he is just getting started.  Now, because he can no longer work, he is in danger of losing his health insurance.
 

If you know Rick, you know he is a fighter, and a climber.  He worked for several years as a tower technician, climbing towers in South Dakota in freezing temperatures and unrelenting wind, until he moved south to Florida, where he continued climbing towers every day. 


Today, he is faced with his biggest climb ever – a climb over cancer.  He cannot, and should not, attempt to climb it alone.  We ask you all, very humbly, to help him reach the top.  As his parents, we are, of course, intimately involved in his recovery.  I pray you join us in our journey to conquer this disease, and choose to climb to the top of this mountain with Rick.
