2018 Climb for Connor

The Norwich University men's lacrosse team will host the third-annual Climb for Connor from Saturday, Feb. 10 to Sunday, Feb. 11. This year, the event will take place on the Hurley Rock Wall in the Shapiro Field House on campus. The Castleton University men's lacrosse team will be hosting their annual climb on the same dates, at the Glenbrook Gym Rock Wall.
Climb for Connor, hosted in partnership with the Castleton University men's lacrosse program, raises money and honors the memory of Connor Roberts, a Norwich men's lacrosse player who passed away in June 2014 from a sudden heart attack.
The event consists of a 24-hour rock wall climbing marathon, set to begin at noon on Saturday, Feb. 10 until Sunday, Feb. 11 at noon. The NU men's lacrosse team will be climbing for the entire 24-hour duration and will be joined by various Norwich faculty, staff and students.
"Connor continues to be a big part of our program and our community," remarked Neal Anderson, the Head Coach of men's lacrosse at Norwich. "We are excited to expand the climb to the Norwich campus so that more people can take part and appreciate Connor's lasting legacy."
Roberts may have attended Norwich, but he had strong ties to his school's in-state rival, Castleton. His older brother, Ben, played lacrosse and ice hockey at Castleton while his sister, Danielle, was a member of the women's ice hockey team for the Spartans. As a native of St. Albans, Roberts was well-known throughout the State of Vermont.
"I see this event as a representation of Connor's spirit because it brings communities together," said Nick Fischer, the Defensive Coordinator for the Cadets. "Connor was always a 'bridge builder', especially in connecting Castleton to Norwich and the different sports teams on campus. We hope this event does the same while raising money in his memory."
Climbers are seeking donations and sponsorships for the event, with all proceeds benefitting the CJR Memorial Fund, LTD. All are welcome at the event to climb, donate or show your support for our climbers in their 24-hour show of support for Connor. All proceeds from the event will ensure his memory can continue to touch the lives of others.
