Climate film and expedition - funding required.

The belief that this enormous, existential problem could have been fixed if all of us had just tweaked our consumptive habits is not only preposterous; it’s dangerous.”

- Mary Annaïse Heglar, climate essayist.

In March 2021 Tom Reynolds, James van der Hoorn and Charlotte Workman will be spending 6 weeks in Greenland to produce a documentary about exploration, adventure and the need for collective action to protect our planet.

Set against the backdrop of one of the most stunning regions on earth and our attempt to summit unclimbed mountains, our film aims to redress the misconception that individual choices and habits will solve climate change. Given the amount of misleading consumer information to the contrary, we believe it is a story that needs to be told.

Although our entire expedition and documentary film making process is carbon neutral, we still have an effect on the planet and our environment.  This does not - and should not - stop us, or anyone, from campaigning to protect our planet. While we fight amongst ourselves over who is ‘greener than thou,’ or dare not speak up for fear of being labelled hypocrites, powerful companies and governments - whose interests lie only in the short term - gleefully carry on as normal.

The documentary will feature invited climate scientists and campaign experts to debunk various myths and provide a transformative 4 step plan to anyone aspiring to care more effectively for our planet.

We’ve all started to realise that putting our plastic bottles in the correct recycling bin every week or changing our light bulbs simply isn’t going to be enough to reverse the damage to the climate.

The total costs for the expedition and documentary are around £40k. Our funding so far has come from scientific and exploration grant makers, as well as our own personal contributions, into which we’re paying as much as we can to get things off the ground. Support for the expedition also comes from Trekitt (www.trekitt.co.uk) with specialist expedition equipment, and some much needed guidance and expertise from their staff..

We’re reaching out now to the general public to help close the gap and make this film a reality. Our expedition leaves mid-March 2021- so not long!

It would be amazing if you were able to share as much as you can afford, but even just £5-10 would be a really huge help, the money goes towards covering our filmmaking and logistics costs - both of which are crucial to the production of our film.

Thank you everybody for reading, for your generosity and for your kind words of support - it all means a lot to us.
