The World is facing the most urgent crisis in human history: the ever-increasing threat to our Earth. Climate is changing, and most of the times, not for the better. The facts are not in dispute. Science brings us new evidence every day, every hour. Global temperatures are increasing. Average sea levels rose nearly twice as much in the last two decades as they did during the entire previous century. The concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide is on a steady march upward. The impact of these changes on all forms of life is dramatic—even catastrophic.
As farmers of the world, we are aware we own part of the solution and we want to play our role. We feed the world; however, we are the most impacted by the effects of the changing climate which put in strong threat our production and revenues. Furthermore, the rapidly growing global population demands not only that we double agriculture production by 2050 (FAO) but, at the same time, that we become more sustainable and efficient. We are called to play a significant role to provide a sustainable future for the whole humankind. And we are ready and willing to fulfil this key acting part. We have got the answers! We are already developing effective methods to address climate change. So that, we want to have our says in the global political discussion on climate change, proposing solutions that are farmers driven, science-based and result oriented. This is our way, this is the Farmers Driven Climate Change Agenda!
As none can work alone, we have called all the actors and stakeholders in the agricultural sector to join their hands with us in a Farmers Driven Climate Change Alliance. Climakers, this is what we want to be! And we need you, today more than ever, to make it happen. We rely on people like you to make the difference. You can help us to create even better ways to engage more people with the Climakers. With your help, we can expand our reach around the world, raising awareness on farmers’ best practices, bridging the gap with the research and innovation world, and addressing governments and international institutions on their implementation. We can’t do it without your help … but together, we can make a change, together we can be the change. The solution is in our hands.
