Nikki Moore tragically lost her soulmate, Ed Moore on the night of Tuesday, April 28th. They had been together for almost 16 loving years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the past 25 years and spent his whole life helping anyone who needed it. Whether it be helping people hay their fields, work on their vehicles, split some wood or any other things he was asked to do, you could count on Ed to be there.
Nikki and Ed supported each other in every aspect of their lives so when Nikki decided to become a CNA, he was fully on board and maybe even tried pushing her into becoming a nurse (which she definitely pushed back on). She was one of the few workers still working at Tall Pines when COVID-19 entered the building. She pulled a lot of doubles and put her all into trying to protect the people and the facility she loved. She, unfortunately, ended up catching the virus from work and had to be quarantined at home. While they tried hard to keep Ed from getting it, he ended up catching the virus as well.
The night of the 28th, Ed told Nikki he wasn't feeling well and was feeling hot, even though the COVID symptoms had been starting to slowly dissipate, so after checking his temperature and seeing it was fine, they decided it was just an anxious episode like he had had numerous times before he got the virus. He decided he would go take a cool shower. Nikki heard a loud bang and ran to the bathroom. He had fallen and hit his head. She was his first responder and she tried everything she could to save her best friend, with no avail.
Nikki is absolutely devastated and I'm asking all of her friends, family and community to help lessen the burden of her grievance and loss. No donation is too small and she appreciates everything everyone is doing to help, along with everyone's kind words.
