Please Help Save Cleo's Hair Studio.
Cleo's Hair Studio is located in Montclair, N.J. It is the second salon created by my beloved aunt Sarah. The first salon she founded was also in Montclair. It was called 'Revelations'. Revelations came to be recognized as the Longest Running black-owned business in Montclair, started by aunt Sarah Smith over 35 years ago.
Due to the statewide covid pandemic we closed the salon doors of Cleo's Hair Studio on March 14, 2020; mandated by the state of NJ.
During the time of closure, aunt Sarah and my mother Annie Walker became ill. Tragically, both aunt Sarah and my mother died just days apart from complications due to Coronavirus. Losing them has been absolutely devastating for my family and I.
The statewide guidelines and restrictions for small, medium and large businesses has made it extremely difficult to run a successful small business. The number of clients I am permitted isn't helping with the cost of keeping it going. Needless to say; it's been tough. I cannot financially maintain past due rent, utilities for the months that we were shut down.
I need the help.
I did not qualify for funding under the Covid19 Relief for small business assistance because while managing and doing hair in the salon all these years in our family salon the business itself was not in my name but in aunt Sarah's.
My goal is to keep the family legacy and start working with community organizations that service other people in need. I have taken many of the necessary steps to keep the business open on my own these past months and I must now reach out to family, friends, supporters and the community for donations to help keep 'Cleo's Hair Studio' remain open.
My goal is 10,500 to help with business utilities and business rents for April -August.
I am so truly deeply thankful to my faithful loyal clients, family, friends and those who have donated and shared this post; for your constant support, love and prayers during this difficult time.
Let us all continue to look to the future with great optimism in spite of these hardships. We must push through together.
