Clean Water & Schools For Villages In Ghana
Donation protected
Imagine a world where a single act of kindness could change the lives of an entire community.
Hi! I'm Khadijah, founder of Ankara Beauty, a social enterprise that sources all-natural beauty products from women-owned cooperatives in Ghana West Africa.
For the past five years, I’ve traveled to Ghana, and while Ghana is a beautiful country, there are villages and communities outside of the capital city of Accra that desperately need development. While in Ghana, I’ve volunteered for several organizations, and I've seen firsthand the amazing things that can happen when we come together to make a difference.
With the help of my customers and supportive network, we’ve adopted a community of school children in the northern region, in the village of Savelugu, whose mothers make Shea butter for Ankara beauty. Each year during my visit, we donate school shoes, school supplies, and money to help the children and their mothers. We’ve also donated money to help Ajike the founder of the shea butter cooperative, to help build a school for the children in the community.
This year, I'm once again traveling to Ghana, but I want to do more. I’ve identified my life’s purpose and that is to use my experience and marketing degree that I proudly earned from an HBCU, help organizations in Africa through the Ankara Beauty Social Impact Fund who are on the ground doing the work. These organizations don’t have huge marketing budgets or donors with deep pockets. They oftentimes don’t have teams of more than a few volunteers, but they are on the ground, doing the work! There is not much red tape, they see a need, and they fill it. I’m dedicating my time, talent, and resources to help them start and complete projects. They rely heavily on word of mouth and the generosity of people like me, and people like you.
I’m asking for your help to reach my fundraising goal of $20,000 by September 2023., These funds will benefit two separate social impact projects. The first is the commissioning of a borehole for a community that will bring them safe drinking water, the second will be to finish building the school that is still under construction its Savelugu. The founder Ajike of the Shea Butter cooperative has been slowly and steadily building this school, with no major donors. I want to help her finally complete the school, which will include a library, and a computer lab, and pay the salary of the teachers. Ghana is a beautiful developing country. I’ve seen the impact of the small contributions I’ve made, and I’m just one person.
The power of crowdfunding is amazing. Please join me on this philanthropic journey as we create lasting change in the lives of the women and children of Ghana. Please share this campaign, you never know who would like to help.
