Clean water access for communities in Uganda
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Steph from Germany. I´m engaging in climate and environmental activism. In order to promote projects to help the MAPA (Most Affected People and Areas) I set up this fundraiser.
I'm connected with climate activist Dixon Bahandagira from Uganda.
Like in Dixon's community everywhere in Uganda people have to walk a fair distance carrying canisters back and forth to fetch water.
The water is everything but clean, causing health issues for especially the most vulnerable, children and the elderly.
This is what Dixon shared about the situation in his community:
"In the morning, just before the sun peeks over the horizon in Uganda, 6-year-old Magdalene wakes up in the darkness with her mother to walk a little over 3 miles...
... underprivileged children under age 5 die from diarrhea linked to inedaquate water, sanitation and hygiene every year."
So Dixon has raised a project to improve the water supply and availability for his community. Instead of fetching water from murky streams or waterholes like this
borholes are dug and equipped with clean pumps to build up a proper sanitary and hygienic situation for drinking water.
To install a borhole costs quite some money:
If you´re interested in the complete quotation I can send you the pdf.
So approximately 6350€ (exchange rate dated 2/Oct/2023) are needed to finance a single borhole. But once installed and regularly inspected and maintained it will hopefully continously provide clean water for drinking and secure the health of the people.
Hopefully this campaign will raise money for many borholes in many communities throughout Uganda!
So if you want to help build clean water supply for Dixon's community and hopefully many more, please support this campaign by donating and sharing widely! Thank you very much! We will keep you updated here:)
Dixon has been running a 1 million trees project for quite a while as well and has planted about 550.000 trees so far! If you want to help him plant more trees, please donate here: https://gogetfunding.com/help-dixon-to-plant-1-million-trees-in-uganda/
