Hi friends!
April is Autism Awareness Month as well as Madi's 6th birthday! In honor of both of these events, we're raising money for an amazing cause!
As many of you know, Madi was diagnosed with autism at 14 months old. Madi had no words, made no eye contact, had little interest in the world around her and was constantly having tantrums out of frustration. Since then we've had many amazing teachers and therapists that have helped Madi (and us) and she began to make slow, but steady progress.
This year, Madi started at Osborn Hill Elementary School in the CLC (Cohort Learning Center) with Miss Sarah. I cannot say enough amazing things about Sarah and her team! Madi's pace for progress is now at lightening speed! She can now brush her teeth, put on socks and shoes and most importantly, is starting to use her talker to express her needs. Boy is she getting good at asking for cheeseburgers! While these skills may seem small to most, they have been life changing for us.
Miss Sarah is always going above and beyond for her students. She's received permission to create a sensory room for her kiddos. Giving students the ability to swing, climb, touch and have input throughout their day is a key contributing factor to their success. Sarah has a room, but now she needs stuff to go in it!
This is where we're asking for your help! We would like to raise enough money to supply the sensory room with items such as foam floor, trampoline, crash pad, a cozy canoe, wobble chairs, fidget toys, and so much more!
