CLAY is an exhibition showcasing the work of final year students on the University of the West of England’s BA(Hons) Photography course. Held at the Old Truman Brewery in London from 21st – 26th June 2018, the exhibition will display a diverse range of work from 48 artists ranging across a variety of genres, methods and themes.

From the Middle East to North America, from the industrial wastelands on the South bank of the Tyne, to the burial mounds of Somerset, Clay photographers have found inspiration in a wide range of locations. Their subjects are as diverse as ambient sexuality, traveller heritage, and the challenges of being a soldier and an artist simultaneously. Their outputs include installations, books, films and all manner of photographic imagery.

The participating artists have spent the last three years building on their creative practice, process and skillset, and this exhibition provides the setting for presenting their final body of work to a wide audience of creative industries professionals.

Our Funding Efforts
Clay photographers have worked hard to fundraise through cake sales, sponsored bike rides, art sales, music events, jumble sales and sponsored swims in order to fund venue hire, transport from Bristol to London, hanging systems and lighting. The money from this campaign will be put towards the cost of producing the catalogue showcasing the artists’ work. This will be available to visitors at the exhibition, containing images, artist biographies and contact details that may be a catalyst for students being offered industry employment post-graduation. Any donation you can make will be very gratefully received.
