Claudia Peralta's Medical Fund

Claudia Peralta is my cousin. She is the mother of two wonderful young men. She has dedicated the last ten years of her life to teach at an Architecture Faculty in her hometown, in Guatemala City.

I know few people who are as generous, positive and who love life as she does, and now she needs our support to be able to have a specialized surgery in Houston, TX, because they do not have the necessary equipment in Guatemala.

She will be traveling in a week, to get it done as soon as possible because the doctors have told her that her condition is highly risky, like a time bomb, besides causing her constant internal bleeding.

I am attaching a transcription of the diagnosis and indications of her doctor for a better explanation and understanding of her condition.

Claudia Peralta is a patient under my medical care. She is a 48-year old architect who presented in March of 2015 with an aneurysm of the ascending aorta. She underwent successful surgical resection and implantation of the valve and coronary arteries. Her secondary diagnosis was Marfan Syndrome.


Approximately three months ago, the patient began having angina and shortness of breath. We repeated the angiotac and the patient now presents with a gigantic aneurysm of the arch not previously seen. The aneurysm is involving the entire arch with mild dilatation of the distal thoracic aorta. She also has aneurysms of the hepatic arteries which are under partial control through embolization.


The patient needs either surgical repair of the aortic arch aneurysm with replacement under deep hypothermia and circulatory arrest. This procedure can be done in Guatemala. However, another option would be insertion of percutaneous transluminal graft with implantation of the cervical vessels. This procedure CANNOT be done in Guatemala due to lack of necessary equipment.

The patient does not have sufficient funding to travel to the United States for the percutaneous procedure.

The patient requires treatment as soon as possible.
