Hello! i'm Valerie, but my kids call me Ms Val!
I'm a gardening/nutrition educator & i work with two of West Oakland's elementary schools. Distance learning definitely has it's challenges & one of mine is making sure my kids have what they need to thrive as well as have fun in my class. That being said, I'm asking for donations for activity kits to send home to my students. My lessons are science based, culturally relevant & fun! Your donation will allow my kids to learn how to make tortillas, get to know the 3 sisters of the garden(squash, corn, beans) & why biodiversity is important, practice mindful tasting, learn the history of chopsticks, make joumou, a Haitian dish enjoyed to celebrate the New Year, as well as going on virtual tours of farmers markets, the snack isle at the Asian Grocer, a local farm ran by queer women & a Black owned neighborhood co-op within walking distance of the school!
Please help my students get the education they deserve! your donation will help kids see pieces of their city they never knew existed or never thought they had access to. Anything helps, My students & I are grateful
