Clarke was born a beautiful Louisiana spring day - the path to the hospital was lined in full vibrant blooms of azalea bushes. Something about him told us that from that day on, life would be full of brilliance and enchantment. Every day since then has been filled with excitement and wonder - trains, dogs, animatronics, travel, movies, theater, and the most beloved of all his passions - music and guitars! He loves spending time with his beloved dog Cheyenne, and Cheyenne loves listening to his guitar playing!
Clarke has been in and out of hospitals most of his life, but it never curbed his joie de vivre (joy of life in Cajuns dialect)...
frequent illnesses, constant pain, fatigue, weekly injections, infusions, and bone marrow biopsies. And now MDS - myelodysplasia...
(what Robin Roberts from the Good Morning America received a bone marrow transplant for. Carl Sagan also had this.)
Clarke needs a bone marrow transplant and he has complex medical problems; no hospital in New Orleans nor anywhere else in Louisiana provides this treatment for his bone marrow condition. We must go out of state to a major bone marrow center, at Dana Farber Cancer Center / Boston Children's Hospital . They will provide the level of care he needs. Treatment will require extended stays away from home.
With this medical travel comes expenses that we are not prepared for, but they cannot be avoided.
We need help.
Please donate what you can to help with co-pays, travel, housing, and other living and medical expenses.
Sue, Dee, and Clarke thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
