Clark's Ear Surgery/Medical Fund

This page is to raise money for 3 year old, Clark Copeland, of Jacksonville, NC, to be able to have microtia repair in Santa Monica, CA this summer. This surgery should not only repair the ear, but hopefully, will be the first of many steps to helping her regain hearing in that ear.
Clark was born on August 3rd, 2011 with Type C EA/TEF (see: www.eatef.org ), Grade 3 microtia/atresia of the right ear and hemifacial microsomia.
Clark is now 3 ½ and much of her life has been committed to getting and keeping her healthy. Although her EA/TEF repair was successful, she has had many hospitalizations and procedures since her initial repair, due to complications of her condition that cannot be “fixed”, only managed. Although these challenges are ongoing, her family is so grateful that she is doing so well and that she has many medical professionals that are dedicated to her continued well-being.
Now that Clark has grown and her conditions have stabilized, they are looking forward to pursuing procedures that will repair her craniofacial conditions, starting with microtia repair. Although these repairs can be done at UNC with some of her current doctors, the process would involve a series of at least 4 surgeries, some that are quite painful, that would not begin until the age of 6. After much research, her parents found a surgeon in Santa Monica who has committed her life’s work to performing microtia repair as a one-surgery, low-pain process with the highest quality result. Her surgical schedule gets booked about a year out, but Clark was fortunate to make it onto her docket for June 25, 2015. The Copelands will have to stay in Santa Monica for two weeks post-surgery to ensure that everything heals correctly before leaving Dr. Lewin.
