Clarence Davis Fund

Donation protected
An armed robber's bullet changed Clarence Davis's life forever. Davis, 47, was paralyzed below the waist. He'll spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.  He has no income, insurance, or permanent home. You can help.

Early in the morning of August 15, 2017, Clarence finished his shift at the restaurant and crossed the street to a bus stop to make the trip home. Two men appeared out of the darkness. One was holding a pistol. The gunman ordered Clarence to hand over his wallet. Instead, Clarence ran. The man with the gun fired, hitting him in the back. Clarence went down in the middle of the street. Later at the hospital, his doctors told him he would never walk again.

He's out of the hospital now and recently helped Houston police create a composite drawing of the man who shot him, resulting in the arrest of two suspects.

“ I don’t’ know what was on his mind, but me personally I can’t do that to no one. I just couldn’t.” Clarence said recently.

Clarence is in the process of applying for social security disability, and for help from the Texas Crime Victims Compensation Fund, but it could be months before he sees any financial help. And even then, whatever he receives is unlikely to cover the tens of thousands of dollars he'll need to pay for the therapy and medical treatment he'll need to become independent again. The purpose of this fund is to help him do that.
