Community Centre Bushfire Relief

Donation protected
Sriom Devi Brindhavan, previously known as Sriom Adisakthi Ashram, has been a community centre in Sydney for over 25 years, serving the community and providing a place of worship, food, elderly care services, and shelter for individuals from all walks of life. Sriom Devi Brindhavan moved to a beautiful location in the Blue Mountains in 2016, with the idea of building a Sriom Devi Narayanan community centre, spiritual retreat and sanctuary among the mountains and mother nature.

On 21st December 2019, we sadly lost our beloved community centre, which was consumed entirely by the raging bushfires, leaving nothing behind. Our community centre, the attached monk's house and guest house, storage used for functions and prayers, and our wildlife care area were all lost mercilessly to the fierce flames.

We are devastated by the loss of our beloved community centre, however we are now determined to rebuild as quickly as possible, and to restore the services being provided from there.

We estimate the cost of our losses to be in excess of $800,000. Not being covered under our current insurance policy, we are now faced with rebuilding our entire community centre, home, and sheds from the ground up.

We hope to restore our community centre to provide a place of worship for the community. The building was also the centre of providing many services to the community, which include -
*annadhanam (serving of food to the community, especially those less fortunate);
*spiritual classes, and meditation classes;
*care for the elderly, including education, development, and recreational activities;
* providing a place for people to come and feel a sense of community;
* care for local wildlife; and
*a centre to raise funds to provide shelter, food and education to communities in need.

We seek to raise $500,000 to commence rebuilding our community centre, house and shed within the next 1 year.

We also welcome any assistance by way of building materials such as bricks and cement, or other reusable structures such as shed frames, fences, and furniture. If you are able to help in any other way, please let us know and we would be very grateful. restoring this community centre will enable us to provide these important services and therefore make a better community for us all.

Thank you and Sriom.
