Clapping Hands Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
Clapping Hands Farm would not be the magical place it is without its scholarship fund. In 2017, we gave $35,000 in financial assistance. This year, we are determined to raise more money than ever in order to offer the Clapping Hands experience to even more young people and their families. Here are some quick facts:

--In every one of Clapping Hands Farm’s arts and nature camps and workshops, ⅓ to ½ of campers come on scholarship. Campers are welcome regardless of their ability to pay.
--We reach out to serve children in challenging life situations, including special needs, domestic violence, recent immigration, and serious illness or death in their families. Many of our campers are referred to us from local agencies.
--In 2017, we gave $35,000 in financial assistance. In 2018 we expect that to increase because we have expanded our year-round programs.
--Clapping Hands can accept tax-deductible contributions through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas. To make a tax-deductible donation, please go to our page on the Fractured Atlas site: https://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/fiscal/profile?id=14213 (donations to our GoFundMe campaign are not tax-deductible).

Who we are:

Since 2000, Clapping Hands Farm has been providing camps, workshops, and retreats focused on ART, CULTURE, and NATURE at a beautiful farm in Pittsboro, NC. Our camps include visual arts, theater, music, building and engineering, cultural camps, and outdoor education. Each program is enriching and inspiring thanks to the working artists and naturalists who share their crafts as lead teachers. We have created, and are committed to sustaining, a diverse camp community with racial balance, economic access, and campers who bring a wide range of abilities and needs.

Who we serve:

Finding and serving children in need is a priority for us. We greatly value our partnership with local agencies who refer campers to us from shelters for domestic violence, programs for children with special needs, and the foster care system. Our camp community includes at-risk youth, recent immigrants, and children dealing with serious illness or death in their family. Our goal is to create a peak experience for EVERY camper, every week.  This would not be possible without the incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic staff members and volunteers working to ensure every camper, no matter what their needs and abilities, can have a happy, successful week.

Clapping Hands Farm Camp provides unique and sustaining support to the families we serve. Camp provides a special kind of magic that just doesn't happen anywhere else. Families return year after year, kids who grew up at camp come back as counselors and teachers, and some of our campers now have children of their own coming as campers! Friendships and connections begin at camp, but continue into the year and beyond. Over and over, families have reported the unusual impact that camp has. It defies logic that one week of camp could provide a life changing experience, but it continues to happen again and again!

How can your donation help?

We DO NOT turn campers away for economic reasons. In order to sustain this practice, we must raise the funds to cover our hefty scholarship program. ALL of your donations will go toward our scholarship fund! NOTE: On the GoFundMe crowdfunding platform, there is a 2.9% standard processing fee plus $.30 for each donation.

Help keep camp alive and flourishing by giving a donation of any size and sharing our campaign with your friends and families!  We are SO THANKFUL for the incredible support we receive from our beautiful community. We cannot do what we do without YOU.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please visit our page at Fractured Atlas (our fiscal sponsor), and donate through them.
