Mission Trip to India

As most of you know, I’m in my final year at Life West Chiropractic College and I am incredibly honored and humbled every day to have found the profession that allows me to give back to humanity at a high level!  I have spent the last two years developing my understanding of the human body and honing my skills as a chiropractor to be able to deliver gentle and specific adjustments.  I have spent hours of class time learning about human anatomy, physiology, neurology, chemistry, and SO much more!  Not only have I completed an incredible amount of classroom learning, I have also been privileged to invest a great amount of time, energy and financial commitment into the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).  Before beginning chiropractic school, I knew that I wanted to find a profession that allowed me to have a positive impact on family lives.  This desire has led me to begin the process of specializing in chiropractic care for pregnant women and children.  I have found multiple avenues to immerse myself in this community-I am taking a 14 module seminar series provided by the ICPA and have become the ICPA club president at school. My first opportunity to take what I have learned has been presented and I am honored to take my love of chiropractic on a service trip to beautiful India! I am ecstatic to be able to take both what I have learned during my time at Life West and what I’ve gained from my involvement in the ICPA into this service trip.  In January of 2018, my fellow colleagues and a few mentor doctors will be embarking on this journey of service!

Trip Details:

We will be traveling to Mumbai, India and we are partnering with the Sant Nirankari Spiritual Mission! The mission has been slowly expanding its reach since the 1920’s and is highly respected across all of India! Twice a year, the mission puts together a non-secular spiritual gathering where over 1.5 million attendees gather in service to humanity.  Myself and a handful of my colleagues are honored to be able to put our hard work and dedication over the last 2.5 years into action by serving the people of India.  This mission trip has been a consistent part of the Life West community for several years and the service provided by our students and doctors is highly respected and appreciated by the people we serve.  Every mission has an overflowing amount of people that show up to be checked by our team of chiropractors.  I am so honored to be able to be a part of this group of heart-centered, service-minded doctors who are traveling to a country in need of quality health care.  We will be mentored by Dr. Brian Flannery and Dr. Jack Bourla, both practicing chiropractors and invaluable faculty at Life West. It will be an incredible honor to continue to learn from them and serve beside them as we offer the beautiful gift of chiropractic.

We will be leaving on January 24 and embarking on a 20+ hour flight to make our way from San Francisco to India!  Once we arrive, we will be serving for 4 days straight, usually putting in 10+ hour days as there is an abundance of people waiting to be seen.  The most recent mission trip to India reported that between 50 chiropractors, nearly 5000 people were seen- in ONE day!  With lines over 500 people long!

Why Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a way of looking at health and human potential by honoring the nervous system.  As chiropractors, we have a deep respect for the innate wisdom within each of our bodies and work to keep it functioning at the highest level. By working with the spine, we are able to access the spinal cord which is a direct extension of the brain and as a result,  we are able to impact the entire body!  We know that as we provide input to the brain, we have the power to influence EVERYTHING- the way our body functions, our emotional intelligence, our capacity to feel and understand the world around us- it is all directly linked to our brain-body connection. Our spinal health is integral to the health of the rest of our body, as every nerve that exits the spinal cord connects to each organ, tissue and cell throughout our entire body.  Our goal is to find areas of disconnect, areas where the nerve communication has been compromised and then provide gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments that create an opportunity for reconnection.  As the connection is reestablished, proper function can be maintained.

How can you help?:

Before I go any further into how you can help, know that you making it this far in my journey has been a help I am eternally thankful for.  I have been so blessed to be surrounded by a community of people, both from my small hometown of Fort Bragg, CA, to my friends and family far and wide, who have supported me in following my dreams.  This support has been incredibly significant in allowing me to tap into a world that embodies the service-driven life I’ve always wanted to live.  I am incredibly grateful for all the kind words, silent support and outpourings of love that have come my way over the past few years.  I am eternally grateful.

In order for me to continue pursuing my passions, both in the pediatric world as well as the service world, finances are always a factor.  I am humbled to be in a space where I love what I do and believe in it with everything that I am, that I am asking for support in making my goals a reality.  My fundraising goal of $1600 includes the cost of my flight to India, lodging arrangements, a mission fee of $200, food and transportation costs, as well as the $279 cost of the next module in the ICPA seminar series entitled “The Essentials of Chiropractic Care for Children”.  With your help, I can fulfill my vision of serving the world with my hands and my heart from a place of loving abundance.  If you feel inspired to donate to my cause, I will be incredibly honored and moved to be able to serve humanity with your support.  Thank you so much for your time and consideration.  I can’t wait for the opportunity to better the life expression of those I am able to serve through chiropractic care!
