In August, Claire was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma.... AKA breast cancer. (At age 27!) She wrote about the diagnosis on her blog, Life on Lewis, and will continue to update it as she journeys through the treatment process.
At the end of August, Claire will undergo a double masectomy to remove the tumors, and will begin hormone therapy and chemo treatments twice a month.
Since Claire's cancer is hormonal positive, she will not be able to conceive following chemo treatments and hormone therapy. They have started the IVF process to preserve her embryos so Claire and Tyler can hopefully give Graysen (currently 10 months old) a little brother or sister to play with in the future. :)
Unfortuantely, IVF is not covered by insurance in this circumstance.

We're also organizing freezer meals for Claire and her family as she goes through treatment. If you want to contribute a freezer meal, here are some details:
Freezer meals that are semi kid-friendly will work best for Claire and her family. Hot dishes, crock pot in a bag meals, soups, etc. will all work great! Luckily, Graysen likes almost everything! :-) Claire and her family are generally around on the weekends. Feel free to reach out to Claire to coordinate a drop off time.
