Claire's Expenses

My name is Claire and I am the middle child of 3 girls.  I was raised by my aunt and uncle ad my parents were not in a place to raise three children.  Growing up wasn't the easiest as my aunt and uncle were not the great caring people they portrayed themselves to be.  My sisters and I were all physically, mentally, and sexually abused our whole lives.  My sisters and I felt like we could'nt tell anyone so we were stuck.  Everyone in the family was blind to it.  We all continued to live there and be abused until I left to stay with my friend in high school and then left for college.  Leaving for school was one of the best decisions I've ever made but it wasn't the easiest.  I was constantly trying to deal emotionally with all of the abuse I suffered.  During my freshman year at college, my sisters and I decided to speak up and tell our father (at the time we had a decent relationship with him).  He helped us by telling us what to do.  Once we told everyone, our family was torn apart again as everyone felt like they had to side with my aunt and uncle and we were pretty much left alone with no emotional or financial help for anything.  I will be the first to admit that I have made mistakes at school.  I went through a period in my freshman and sophomore year where I just couldn't focus on my studies and didn't do as well as I wanted to.  Since then, I have refocused on my academics as I realized this was truly my way out and better myself.  I applied for financial aid and grants/scholarships last year as we were supposed to.  I then decided I should take Fall classes at the community college by my university for this semester since it was cheaper and I could then use my financial aid for my rent and living expenses.  I never realized that by doing that, my financial aid would all get returned because I wasn't enrolled in classes at the university where I put down on my financial aid forms.  The university ended up returning all the funds and I didn't find out until recently what was happening because I never got the refund of excess like I was waiting for.  Because of that, I have not been able to pay rent for this whole semester and my roommate never knew.  She found out and her mom has been helping me try to figure things out.  We are checking to make sure that if I go to the university next semester (Spring) that my financial aid will be disbursed and the excess will be able to go towards rent for Spring.  I just need some help to get through this semester and get caught up.  Any help would be appreciated.  My roommates mom i set up to receive the funds and send the check to my landlord so I will never receive the money directly.  We tried to make it go directly to my landlord but couldn't figure out how to do that.  Any help by anyone will be hugely appreciative.  I am embarassed for even doing this and you will never know how much of a difference you would make in my life.  Life has thrown me some curveballs, but god puts people in our path for a reason and I truly believe he sent me an amazing roommate who is trying to help me. Thank you!
