Claire's Bassoon Fund

Hello! My name is Claire and I am a senior at Kenyon College. I will graduate this May with B.A.s in Music and Psychology. Next year I will work with City Year Columbus to help students in under-served schools experience success in their academics. I will also apply and audition for Masters-Equivalency programs in Music Therapy throughout the fall and winter. These auditions require a demonstration of mastery on one's primary instrument. Mine is the bassoon, a beautiful instrument with a prohibitive price tag.

For the past ten years, I have played on school-owned instruments, but next year I will no longer have access to a bassoon. During the past decade, I have loved rehearsing, giving recitals, and playing in the Knox County Symphony and the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, among other ensembles. Although I have been saving and working toward a bassoon for several years, I still need some help to purchase an instrument. In addition to my current savings of $5,000, I am hoping to raise an additional $7,000 to cover the cost of a pre-professional instrument that will take me through graduate study and beyond.
