A Home For My Girls

Asking for help is one of my biggest challenges (I'm actually having anxiety about it). It doesn’t help much that I’m about to publically make myself vulnerable by sharing my least proud moments. Well, here we go…
I have always been able to provide for my children- even with a debilitating illness and no child support....until this past June, when we became homeless. We moved to Victoria for medical reasons, and found my health improved 85%. From seizures, limited mobility, often house bound or bed bound, to regaining nearly all of my abilities! After a long 6 years, I'm so grateful my girls finally have their mom back! I won’t sugar coat it, M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) is horrendous....like ‘your body is suddenly your worst enemy and you're wishing for a big Mack truck’ kind of horrendous. So when my health started quickly declining it really scared us. Mold is one of the worst things for my weak immune system, and we discovered our new place was riddled with it.
As I searched for another place, the pain, extreme fatigue, cognitive issues were quickly increasing -then I had my first seizure in months. It broke my heart to see the look on my daughters' faces, and hear my 9 year old, Asia say “I thought you were going to die, Mom”. I knew we couldn’t stay another night, so as soon as I recovered from that seizure, we packed up the car and bought a tent. Thankfully, while living in the tent away from the mold my health began to improve again. As we continued our search, a lovely family offered to let us stay in their home for a few weeks (what a blessing!). Those weeks have come and gone now, and things are not looking promising but we’re trying to stay positive.
Despite my efforts- exhausting all possible options, government housing, non-profit agencies, etc- we are still without a home. I really need to come through for my kids, like they have come through for me- everything from extra chores to helping me to walk- all without complaint. They are such wonderful, loving kids, and I need to come through for them- that’s why I’m reaching out to you guys. I don’t know what else I can do.
My hope is to raise enough money to afford a decent motorhome or trailer. I have found that $6000 could get us an older but structurally sound mobile home. This would give my girls a safe, secure place to live, while I focus on building up my health and strength, thus allowing me work- leading to the launch my small business. I've been making my own chemical-free products and hope to share these with others in the near future- especially M.E. sufferers, as most of us have extreme chemical sensitivities.
My intention is not to create feelings of obligation or pressure. If you would like to offer help- be it monetary, kind thoughts, energy, prayers, or sharing this with others- any and all are incredibly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
