Lisa's Multiple Sclerosis Fund

My mom was diagnosed with MS many years ago and I have watched it get progressively worse every year. At this point she can barely walk and has trouble doing daily tasks especially when it comes to using her hands. She is now 60 years old and continues to work full time as a billing coordinator at a medical lab only because she cannot afford to retire. I am asking for any help I can get for my mother because she should not have to spend these years suffering with MS as it progresses faster than normal because she is pushing herself beyond her limits giving 100% of herself at work everyday. My mother has done so much for so many including myself which is why she cannot afford to retire. She has never thought twice about helping someone in need financially and I think it's time to do the same for her. She struggles every day with MS but is such a strong woman that she would never ask for help. I would like nothing more than to pay off my mother's debt so she can enjoy the last years of her life and not have to struggle with working a full time job. I myself am unable to do this because my son was born in March 2013 with intestinal atresia and he spent the first 4 months of his life at Children's Hospital in Atlanta. The medical bills left me with so much debt that I cannot give my mother the life she deserves. This is why I am creating this account and calling on the help of others who understand my mom's situation. I know how much it hurts my mother to only get to see her grandson a couple times a year as she lives in Connecticut and I live in Georgia. We have donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in the past in hopes that progress will be made to find a cure. The cold hard truth is that they will not find a cure in my mother's lifetime and probably even my lifetime. This is why I am trying to raise money to make the last year's of my mom's life as great as they can be. She tells me everyday how much she wishes she could afford to retire and move to Georgia so she can be with her grandson and watch him grow up. It hurts me so much to see her have to work day after day in the pain that she is in with no end in sight. I know that it is not likely that I will raise enough money for my mom to retire and enjoy the last year's she has, but if I can raise enough to buy her a plane ticket or two so she can come and spend time with her grandson I would be incredibly grateful. I come from an Italian family and those of you who know Italians, family is everything. I am so afraid of the day that my son asks my what grandma was like only because he did not get to spend time with her and get to know his grandmother. My mother is an angel and she gives and does for others but I have never once heard her ask for anything in return. That is just the type of person that she is and that is why she deserves the world. For those of you who know multiple sclerosis, it is incredibly hard to watch a loved one slowly lose control until they can no longer function on their own. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this and help my mother make memories with my son that he will always have in his heart. May god bless you all.
