On July 18th, 2014, our mother Vicki Davis (Holcombe/Swift) was diagnosed with terminal Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of bile duct cancer. Since then, we as a family have been going through a lot of emotional trauma. Our mother is one of the luminous beings of the world, she has touched so many lives in such a positive way. Anyone that knows Vicki knows what a caring, giving and compassionate person she is. Vicki has always lived life to the fullest and her vibrant spirit is an inspiration to everyone she comes in contact with.
The prognosis was quite bleak, as she was given only 6 months to a year to live. The news was devastating to all of us. Since then however we have found more aggressive treatments being done at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and also in Canada. Once Vicki heard about the successful treatment with other people that had the same type of cancer, she said “I want to fight it!”.
We believe there is a very real chance to extend our mothers life by 5 years, perhaps even longer with these new therapies. But the therapies are expensive, and we are not a wealthy family. So we are reaching out in this critical time of need.
Many of us would do anything to get back even one minute with loved ones we’ve lost in the past. Right now we have our mother, and we're doing everything we can to keep her with us as long as possible.
Our mother is the strongest person we know. If anyone has the will, tenacity and faith to fight this battle and win, it’s her. Please help support Vicki’s fight by contributing to this fund.
