This Freedom Mutual Aid Fund is intended to relieve at least some of the financial burdens experienced by individuals in Myanmar, particularly from small towns and villages, who are losing jobs and wages due to their participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement. Taking part in the Movement means being in solidarity with the people of Myanmar who protest in resistance against the Myanmar military and its recent coup on February 1, 2021.
Rather than going to work, which propels the functioning of the military government, government employees (teachers, nurses, janitors, etc.) are choosing to stand for justice and freedom along with the rest of the civilian population. Since most people live paycheck to paycheck, losing days' or even weeks' worth of wages can mean the whole family going hungry and/or going without basic necessities.
During a time when COVID-19 has cost so many jobs and incomes, there are just not enough resources, especially within smaller communities, to support and sustain one another. This is why outside funding is gravely needed during these incredibly challenging times. Please support us in this cause to help alleviate the financial burdens of these individuals who are risking their careers and lives for justice and freedom. Thank you for your support!
