Help Jim with Medical Expenses

We need your help raising $3,500 for medical costs for our dad who was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer. Every dollar raised means so much more. $10 helps pay for the medicine for dad's care. $40 pays for a trip to and from treatment in Corpus Christi. Larger donations can help us chip away at the seemingly insurmountable insurance deductible ahead of us. The money raised will allow our dad to focus on getting better and giving the cancer all he's got instead of thinking about the associated expenses.
The doctors tell us he likely has had multiple myeloma over the past two years, but we found it less than a month ago. He went to the doctor three weeks ago for chronic back pain we associated with a fall he suffered working on the ranch. This visit prompted tests which found a large metastasized tumor at the base of his spine. When we received the official diagnosis two weeks later (the day before dad's birthday), we were told by the surgeon that this cancer was already at stage IV and exceptionally aggressive so we needed to operate in less than a week. On June 29th the surgeon removed an orange-sized tumor from his back. Dad's positive attitude never faltered throughout this trying process, and he constantly looked back on "the blessing in disguise" his fall had been. He began walking less than a day after surgery and is currently undergoing physical/occupational therapy to regain his pre-surgery range of motion. Soon, he will begin radiation treatment to shrink the remaining cancer into remission.
Any donation, large or small, will help our dad on his road to recovery. Thank you all so much for your love and support throughout this process. We are so incredibly blessed to have the support of our friends and family and we could not do it without y'all!
We also want to present a challenge to our supporters. Each dollar donated through this fundraiser has the potential to represent a vote for either Leandra or David. Whoever has the more votes on September 5, 2014 will have to shave their head*. IF we raise $3,500 on or before 9/5/14, both Leandra and David will shave their heads.
