Citizenship for the Martinez Family
Donation protected
When I moved to Miami a year and a half ago, I knew absolutely no one. Juan and Humberto Martinez were among the first people I met, through my job. They immediately welcomed me with the warmest smiles and personalities you could imagine. Eventually I visited their church where I met their entire family, who all had equally bright dispositions and made me feel like family from the moment we met.
Mr and Mrs Martinez fled from El Salvador 32 years ago with their son. The country was stricken with war, crime, poverty, and two major earthquakes had destroyed nearly everything. Since then, they have had two more sons and a daughter. All 6 of them serve in the church as Pastors, Teachers and Worship Leaders.
The federal government took away the parents and oldest son’s TPS protection to stay in the country last week, giving them 18 months to leave the United States. They have been trying to become citizens for a very long time, have a lawyer helping them, and all of their forms are complete. The only thing standing in their way is the payment of fees.
Money shouldn’t be what stands in the way of a family being separated or not, ever. El Salvador is currently the most violent country in the world that isn’t currently at war. Anything you can donate will help this family not only stay together, but stay in a country where they can feel safe.
