Madelyn Faith's care fund

Donation protected
July 7, 2014 My wife gave birth to our daughter, Madelyn Faith. She was just 23 weeks 5 days gestation. My wife's water broke at just 22 weeks 3 days and the umbilical cord was prolapsed, which means it was hanging down through the cervix. We were told we would never see our little girl, that she wasn't far enough for her to make it, that she would die from the cord becoming pinched or an infection. My wife and I spent the next 10 days in the hospital with her on bed rest fighting for our little girl to have enough time to develop her lungs and have a chance at life. During that time my wife suffered what we think was a seizure as well as a terrible infection, and even the umbilical cord coming out 3 different times. Each time it was replaced by a doctor to keep our hope alive. Luckily Maddy was a fighter and never gave up, her mother and I kept praying and kept our faith, and by what the doctors say is truly a miracle Madelyn was born 1 pound 6 ounces on July 7, 2014 at 2:30 in the afternoon after the infection had progressed to a point that we just couldn't wait any longer. Madelyn had to be put on a ventilator in the NICU. She has her ups and downs, but overall, she is doing well. She is eating well through her feeding tube and gaining weight. She is almost 2 pounds now. We are most worried about her lungs and that they continue to develop and gain strength. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and more stress than any person should ever go through. We make it, by loving each other and our baby girl so much it overtakes and washes away all other feelings. My wife is not able to work due to the complications and having to be there to help care for Maddy. Even with good insurance, the cost of my wifes stay, and what will probably be a minimum of four months for Madelyn is something I'm really not sure how my wife and I are going to be able to afford. There are so many more costs on top of even the basic medical bills that come with a premature baby that just chip away at you and have you maxing out every credit card you own. Just the gas spent going to visit her each month is a mortgage payment. It doesn't matter though, even if we lost everything and had to live in a cardboard box, it is all worth it to just seeing our little girls face, to look in her eyes, to hold her, or just being able to hold her hand. It's amazing that right from the beginning Madelyn's middle name was faith. Who ever knew how much we would all need to get through this. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thoughts and prayers even moreso. From the bottom of my wife and I's hearts, Thank you! #keepingFaith
