Circle of Life Co-operative Preschool

Tax deductible
Like schools from across the country, the Circle of Life Cooperative Preschool, located in the Unitarian Universalist church in Frederick, Maryland, has been working hard to navigate the new waters we are in with regard to Covid-19.  The CLC's goal, first and foremost, is to provide a safe place to learn and grow. With that in mind, CLC has made the decision to keep our classroom closed until a treatment or vaccine becomes available.

While the CLC is offering some online content to students, and the CLC is still accepting enrollments at this time, there simply aren’t enough enrollments or fundraising opportunities to keep the CLC operational.  Fundraising and parental involvement have always been an important part of the CLC, and with the impacts of Covid-19 being felt throughout our community, we are having to drastically change what that fundraising looks like.

There’s no such thing as a socially-distant bake sale.  So, that’s where GoFundMe comes in.

You can make a tax-deductible donation to help keep the CLC solvent—we need help paying for rent, insurance, fees, and Ms Sue’s salary.

Who’s Ms Sue?  She’s Susan Singley and she’s the amazing preschool teacher who helps make the Circle of Life Cooperative Preschool the incredible learning environment it is.  She earned a degree in Early Childhood Education so she could bring her love of story, reading, and education to young children, as she integrates Waldorf and Montessori teaching philosophies with active learning and socio-emotional intelligence and empathy.

That's already a lot.  And then, in the spring of 2020, these teaching styles were joined by other, more disparate styles:  distance learning activities, wrangling active preschoolers into online classes while trying not to overload them on screen-time.  Ms Sue met and continues to meet these challenges with grace, flexibility, and more patience than most people could ever dream of having.  She invited us, digitally, into her home: sharing videos of her chickens and her dogs, reading favorite children’s books, teaching the alphabet, and helping children maintain connections with their friends and playmates.

Schools everywhere are asking more and more of teachers during this pandemic—and often, without being able to compensate them appropriately.  The CLC Preschool has always been a labor of love for those involved in it, and especially for Ms Sue.  Now, with enrollment down and tuition costs reduced, that labor of love might not be able to stay afloat.  So, we are asking the community—both in Frederick and the online community at large—for help.  Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Circle of Life Cooperative Preschool.
