I am a Family Carer turned activist after seeing and experiencing the decline in services due to Austerity. I joined People Before Profit as I believe they have practical solutions to help a country in crisis. Our public health system is in decline, rents spiraling out of control, house prices higher now than in the boom, and men and women all over Wexford are hanging on by their financial and mental fingernails. People Before Profit have vocal for years to get rid of the two tier health system, to have the right to housing enshrined in our constitution and a fairer taxation law which doesn't crush the working poor. I was nominated by the Gorey branch of PBP to run in next years local elections to Wexford County Council. I believe that by joining local government we can help steer the direction we'd like to see Wexford go in, a fairer society for all. Unlike the larger, longer established political parties, we don't have deep pockets and elections cost money. The money raised will go to paying printing costs for flyers, leaflets and newsletters that are distributed either in an out-reach session, public meetings, weekly stalls or letter drops explaining the campaigns I have working on, and the campaigns that are coming up and asking the public about their own local issues. Facebook advertising, posters and travel expenses too all add up, and to have a hope of a socialist voice in Wexford County Council, all expenses need to be met. I stared my campaign in the summer, so funds to continue are needed now and until the end of May. It will only be through public donations that my campaign will have a chance to reach all those affected by years of austerity, high taxes, little tax relief, long waiting times for medical services, and the collapse of out mental health services. Only by changing how we vote will we see a change in our community.
My deepest gratitude and thanks if you are in a position to help with my campaign.
