Pain. We experience it all the time, but you don’t know the true depth of it until you’ve lost a loved one. From a mother, father, wife, child or grandparent, losing someone is devastating. The raw pain is unbearable. This is us right now. My family is internally dying from grief. We have been caught completely off guard, but who is ever ready to lose someone as special as their mother? With two grandchildren on the way, God couldn’t spare her a little more time to see them. All those who know her know she loved her grandchildren more than life itself. She loved them so much, she created a grandparent and grandchildren page on Facebook so they could congregate and talk about their love for their family. The project of pure love for her babies has over 60K followers.
She wasn’t a weak woman. She dedicated her life to helping others. Family, friends and her page. Her page was just a wonderful way to share with the world advice, birth announcements, humorous jokes only a grandparent would get and the loving ways grandkids filled her life. The wonderful woman we called mom focused on helping so many other that she neglected herself. She worried more about others, adopting children and getting people off the street. She had a huge heart.
And now our hearts are left with a big hole. We had no time to prepare, to hug her, to kiss her, to tell her how much she meant to us. To just say “I love you mom!” This hurts more than words can ever express. We purchased her a term policy with AARP in 2013 but unbeknownst to us, AARP has a two year contestability period. She didn’t make the time frame to be fully covered. What this means to our family is that we don’t have the funds to put her to rest. No matter how much we fight it, there is nothing we can do.
So we are reaching out to you, our friends and family, the people she dedicated time and life to, to ask for your help. We just want to give her a proper sendoff. She helped so many and now we need to help her. If you could find it in your heart to contribute anything, we’d be eternally grateful. It would help us give our mother the rightful funeral she deserves.
