Our friend and neighbor Cindy needs a double lung transplant—can you help?

UPDATE: Cindy is one phone call away from finally getting her transplant. Now she and Bill desperatly need financial help to handle the many expenses for her post transplant care. She will need to have twenty four hour care and reside near Stamford for at least three months.
Cindy and Bill are grateful for all of your generosity these last four years. Now they need help to get to the finish line.

THE STORY
Our friend Cindy has Alpha-1, an inherited condition which degenerates her lungs. She’s been battling this disease her entire life; she must wear an oxygen tube most of the time, cannot walk much, and her life has become more and more restrictive and has forced her to spend much of her time tethered to an oxygen tank in her home.

Despite weekly transfusions and other treatments, her lungs have continued to deteriorate to the point that it’s now necessary for Cindy to have a double lung transplant if she is to survive. After three years of frequent testing, Stanford has finally put Cindy near the top of the transplant list due to the severity of her current condition.

While the expenses of the actual procedure are covered, many additional costs are not. The biggest cost that is unmet—and the cost we are trying to cover with this campaign—is her sterile post-surgery care. Cindy needs to be in a sterile environment for 3-4 months near Stanford Hospital so they can monitor her progress following the surgery. Insurance does not cover this, but it is a requirement for her to have the procedure, and this substantial cost is the last barrier between Cindy and her best chance at life.

Cindy has always been a wonderful friend and neighbor, willing to help anyone whenever she could, despite her own setbacks. One of the wonderful things about Trilogy is that we support each other, and we’re hoping that her neighbors and friends can do the same for Cindy.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
All donations will go to a medical trust fund set up in Cindy’s partner’s Bill’s name, in the Bank of Rio Vista. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated.
