Cindy J Visser Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund

We are fundraising for Cindy's Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, set up to remember Cindy and all the people she touched as a nurse. Cindy graduated nursing school in 1976 and enjoyed a career of caring for people as an RN first with 2 years on a medical surgical floor in a hospital, then through 20 years of urgent care, 5 years of hospice care and 10 years of home health care. In May of 2021, Cindy was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare but aggressive form of brain cancer. One year to the day within getting diagnosed with a brain tumor, Cindy passed away.

The funds from this GoFundMe will be transferred to a memorial scholarship being set up on bold.org, an organization that helps get scholarships established and then helps match them with student applicants. The plan is to provide one scholarship per year to a Chicagoland nursing student of $1,000 to $3,000, and to do it for 10 or more years. We'll get to collect applications and choose who receives the scholarship each year, then tell the receiver all about the compassionate and intentional woman that inspired the memorial fund - and hopefully they will then help us carry her spirit forward into the community.  Thank you for helping us remember Cindy this way!
