Cindi's cancer treatment fund

As most of you know my mom has been battling stage 4 throat cancer. Over the last few months she underwent 3 chemo and 35 radiation treatments. She had complications and couldn't get a feeding tube put in. Instead they put in a port in her chest and gave her tpn every night for 12 hours. This is what provides her fluid and vitamins. Unfortunately this is mostly sugar water and and basically gave her diabetes. She now has to check her blood sugar multiple times a day and also take insulin. The day before thanksgiving she got really sick and ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks and had to stop treatment. She finally resumed and finished chemo and radiation treatments at the beginning of January and thought the worst was over. Unfortunately she was getting worse not better. She requested to go to the hospital and I'm glad she did because they found out that she a blood clot in her leg, a fever, and a staph blood infection. She had her port removed to help clear up the infection but now she is not getting any nutrients. She is pretty much unable to eat and had to have a procedure done to widen her esophagus. She is still having trouble eating and is seeing a speech therapist to help with speech as well as swallowing and learning to eat. She has been through numerous tests and treatments. They just found out that the infection is causing her to have back pain and knee pain so bad that she is unable to walk. She will be in the hospital for a while until they can clear up the infection. Then she will eventually be put in a physical therapy center for a few weeks once she is well enough to leave the hospital. They also found 3 spots on her lungs. They are unsure if its an infection or of its cancer. They are giving her antibiotics to see if it goes away. If after 6 weeks or doesn't, then They will biopsy it to see if it's cancerous. She is the strongest person I know and is trying so hard to beat this but it seems like there is always something holding her back. She has suffered so many complications along the way. Unfortunately since she isn't getting better, she is not able to return to work. She was on fmla and short term disability. She lost her job as of feb 5th because the fmla ended. Since she no longer has a job, she now has insurance through cobra which costs over $500 A month. This doesn't include the thousands of dollars in medical bills and prescriptions as well as her normal bills. She has no money coming in so we are doing this as a way to help raise money for her. Cancer almost took her life and now it took her job. She feels defeated and is losing hope. We are wanting to surprise her with this and show her that people care about her and want to help her and are thinking about her and are praying for her. She needs all the encouragement she can get and needs help staying positive.
