A Diagnosis for Danielle

Up until about March of this year, Danielle was a fun, energetic normal 24 year old with a passion for running and working with children. She was an elite runner who averaged 70 miles per week and would laugh if you told her she had to skip a run because of pain. In fact, in November of 2013 she competed in the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Bend, Oregon (see photo above) while battling bronchitis! Fast forward to March of this year when she had an onset of knee pain (in addition to already receiving treatment for her opposite knee). That pain progressed to include many other symptoms that have been consistently progressing. Her condition has recently deteriorated to the point of being bed ridden due to extreme pain, weakness, fatigue, and a host of other symptoms. She is now missing work and school due to the nature of her symptoms.
The cause of her symptoms continues to be a mystery, despite having had 5 rounds of bloodwork, countless visits to her primary care physician, visits with 4 neurologists, a cardiologist, a nutritionist, an eye doctor, a gastroenterologist, a rheumatologist, and 2 orthopedics. She's had an MRI of the brain and knee, and on her most recent visit to the ER more blood work and CAT scan of her brain and entire spine. All test results have been negative. She is desperately seeking a diagnosis as her symptoms continue to worsen and her function declines. I have personally watched her deteriorate over the past several months and it is devastating.
Update: 8/21/14 - Despite extensive diagnostic testing she has not received a diagnosis, and her symptoms continue to get worse. She has been hospitalized for several weeks with still no diagnosis and continues to have new symptoms. The longer she goes without answers, the more medical bills she's likely to have between her hospitalization, diagnosis, evenutal treatment, and recovery. Please donate whatever you can to help offset the financial burden that this is likely to have on her and her family.
