Support PFLAG Gaston

As you've probably heard, my mom who is the president of her local PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends For Lesbians and Gays) was denied the opportunity to hold a fundraiser at a local restaurant because the money raised would be used to support the gay community and the owner said he would support no such cause. After posting about the incident on my facebook page, many people said they wanted to be able to contribute to the non-profit organization. A very, very small portion would cover the costs needed for their group to be in the Charlotte Pride parade and the majority of it would be used for equipment, supplies and literatue for speakers as well as program expenses for meetings, activities, and events. They also make contributions towards the Gay Straight Alliance clubs at six local high schools and one community college. With the amount of prejudice that still exists, groups like PFLAG are imperative in the fight for equality and helping spread acceptance towards the gay community.
