Chair Lift for Cancer Survivor

Donation protected
My son named Bob (46), husband to Johanna and father of three, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2009. He had a Bone Marrow Transplant in 2010 through Dana Farber in Boston. He is now cancer-free but has had many complications from the transplant. It damaged his kidneys a couple of years ago, so that he is now end-stage renal failure and he needs dialysis 3 times a week. His heart has weakened 40-60% just since last November. His lungs are well below capacity (and will progressively worsen).

In Bob's apartment all bedrooms are on the second floor, so he is sleeping on a sofa in his living/dining room. It would mean a great deal to both Bob and Jo to be able to sleep upstairs in his own bed with his wife, and to be around his boys (6 and 8) in their playroom. But physical therapy believes he will never be able to walk the stairs again. So I have been trying to get enough money to buy a used chair lift for about $2,500.00.

Neither his SSI nor his Mass Health supplemental insurance will cover it. Other charitable resources have not been able to help. Johanna works some part-time jobs, but they barely make ends meet.

GOD bless you for considering a contribution!

Sincerely,
Bob's mom, Cathy Chernisky
