Indian Eye Thank You Gift

I am glad to be home now in State College, PA with my beautiful family. But on June 19th, 2014 I underwent an emergency corneal transplant in Chennai, India. For six weeks I lived through the grace and help of 3 very important friends. One of them is Vijay Kumar. He and his family brought me lunch and dinner every day, put eye drops in my eye every hour, drove me to and from the hospital each day, AND even stayed with me during some of my medical appointment. I could not have done it without them. They are a beautiful Indian family with great integrity and very little money. He is a rickshaw driver and the five of them live in a one room house. He rents a rickshaw and is barely able to make ends meet. As a THANK YOU GIFT, I am aiming to raise enough money to buy him a rickshaw to own. This would be a great gift that would enable him to work for years to come and earn more each day.



I am sending this email to only a select few family members and dear friends. To those of you who know how hard this surgery was and how important the help I received was. Please join me in giving a substantial contribution to this beautiful family.
I wish I was able to do this on my own, but I need your help. I have no doubt that it is the right thing to do. I am hoping to raise this money now, while it is fresh in our minds and hearts. I will then purchase the rickshaw when I am in Chennai next which is in January when the sutures in my eye will be removed.
