We were just matched with a birthmother and our baby girl is due to be born in mid-August!!!
As you may know, we started the adoption process this past year. We've been working with an agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jen lived in Louisiana years ago and has a special affinity for the children and community.
While we've been saving to cover the adoption fees, we "got the call" before we had enough. The fees are important to keep the agency going. Our agency, St. Elizabeth Foundation, provides great support to birthmothers including taking them to doctor appointments and providing them with lifetime counseling services.

We've Skyped with our birthmother twice so far, and she is a kind and strong person. She said, "I want you to know, this is your baby. I'm just bringing her into the world." Yeah, our hearts are full.
Before we can bring her home, we will need to stay in the south for about 3 weeks for the interstate compact on the placement of children (ICPC) paperwork to process--which means living expenses, lodging, transportation, food, formula, diapers, etc.
