Vehicle for James Boyd

Donation protected
Six years ago, James was born and our lives have not been the same since.  James is our nephew and he was born with a chromosomal abnormality - a 1p36 deletion.  I know very little of the science behind James' condition, but I know the condition has delayed his development in most every area and I also know that there are myriads of other medical complexities that are associated with the condition - things that his family deals with each and every day.

Can you imagine what it would be like to never leave your house as a family without taking oxygen, medical supplies, etc.  Even just to go to the grocery store or the post office?  Roberta (Bobbie) and John willingly and lovingly walk this road, but it is not without its challenges.   James is reliant on a wheelchair  for mobility and although we pray and believe together that he will walk someday, right now, he is 100% dependent on others.

While typical finances are hard enough with all of the medical and associated expenses, a recent situation has caused a need that simply needs your help and the help of everyone who knows this precious family.  Last week, John flew to Phoenix, Arizona to buy a uusedvehicle for the family - a shuttle bus of sorts that will allow them to transport James more easily.  The vehicle was older, but they were assured that it had a new transmission and was in good working order.  Upon arrival, John learned that the vehicle needed a new radiator.  He replaced the radiator and headed home last Saturday evening.  He made it about 60 miles and then the bus broke down.  After a week in Phoenix and tons of dealings with the people who sold him the vehicle (a rebuilt transmission, 6 new tires, new radiator, and so much more) - John left for home again.  Unfortunately, something else went wrong and John didn't make it far without the bus breaking down again.

At this point, John and Bobbie are discouraged, worn down, and they have exhausted the funds that they had set aside for this venture.  With a week of unanticipated expenses for John in Phoenix and all of the repairs past, present and future, they simply need help from others.  When I asked Bobbie if I could set up a Gofundme account, she said that she wants to be the one helping others.  I told her that this was a chance for others to show how much they care and that God's blessins fall on the recipient and on the giver.  We all know this from experience.

God placed James in John and Bobbie's loving care because He knew that they were particularly equipped with the love and perserverence to be his advocates and to tenderly watch over his life.  They do an amazing job and we all love James and his infectious smile, his love for music and his sweetness.  They only want to do what is best for James.  They sacrifice on a daiy basis for him and this most recent situation is simply one example of the way in which they try to do what is right for him.

Would you share this need with others and would you consider giving whatever you can to help bring this vehicle (and John) home and to allow this family to have one "simpler" part of their lives?
