Chuck’s liver donor

Donation protected
We found out earlier this year that My dad has non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and is in need of a transplant. Shortly after finding out about the cirrhosis, Chuck was diagnosed with liver cancer as well. Luckily the cancer was found early and there was only one spot that needed treated. The surgery was scheduled, to go in and removed the cancer spot and Chuck’s gall bladder as well. When the doctors went in to remove the cancer spot, they discovered that the cirrhosis was much more advanced than they had originally thought and needs immediate attention. He was put on the transplant list but a living donor would be ideal as there wouldn’t be the wait involved. There are some potential donors with a blood match that may or may not work out but we also ask for anyone interested in being a donor to let us know and we’ll go over the criteria (O+ or O- blood type, a BMI around 30, 18-55 years old, etc). Chuck’s insurance would cover both his and the donor’s surgery but the donor would have to take 3 months off work following the donation surgery to recover and the lost wages would not be covered by insurance.  So, we decided to start this page to try and create a collection to compensate for lost wages for the donor during recovery time. This would be a life saving donation for Chuck and we really hope we can move forward as soon as possible but would like to have something to offer the donor to help with the time off work needed for recovery.  Thank you all for taking the time to read this and we appreciate each and every one of you whether or not you’re able to donate...the support is everything!
