Can You Help Chuck & Suzanne?

Hello everyone,
I have been really moved by the challenge my dear friends, Chuck and Suzanne Semple are going through. They have helped so many people themselves and now I am asking you if you would open your hearts and generously help them when they need it. Read the story of how Hurricane Irma damaged their home and if you can, please help. Our goal is to raise $12,090. They lost their roof, carport and lanai. The inside has needed all new drywall and a new ceiling. When we visited them last month we saw how exhausted Chuck was and how devestating a tragedy can be for a couple.
Here's how Suzanne tells their story.
When the hurricane hit, Chuck was in Edmonton with his brother Richard who was making his transition at the time. We had discussed Irma on Friday the 8th, assuming it would miss Naples, as we had been told by many was the usual. Chuck's dear brother Richard dies on the 9th. Hurricane Irma hits on the 10th. Chuck returns home on the 11th.
We had recieved info that our roof, carport and sunroom were ripped off and gone. We left for Florida on the 13th encountering gas shortages and no hotel rooms resulting in our sleeping in our car for the trip down. When we arrived to the devestation in our manufactured home community we experienced a two week power outage, sadness and destruction everywhere.
We discovered that because of the roof being gone, there was severe interior damage to the ceilings and some of the walls requiring most needing to be re- drywalled.
Our sunroom or lanai, as they are called in Florida, was completely gone, 3 walls, 2 entrance doors and roof. Funny though that a glass table was intact just where it was left. We have never seen any trace of the lanai anywhere in our neighbourhood.
We immediately set to work each day in 90 degree weather to protect what was left. We had purchased supplies in Georgia on the way down such as tarps, tools, plywood, tie downs, bungee cords, waterproof tape etc. There was lots to do cleaning up debris, securing tarps on our roof, and piecing them together until we were able to purchase one large one.
We spent two weeks ensuring our home was secure; helping neighbours and waiting for the power to be restored before we could leave.
Having no insurance is common with older units due to extremely high premiums for extremely low payouts
FEMA won't help Canadian citizens, only U.S. citizens.
I tried United Way, Red Cross, FEMA and Samaritans Purse, all to no avail. Due to the generosity of others, we have received $1225. towards repairs.
Our dear friends have been helping. Dave Sheil came down to help for two weeks. Bob and Lori Hisson also were a great help.. great kindness and generosity
Total cost because of Hurricane will be 18,000. CDN with Chuck doing all of the labour. The cost of materials for reconstruction has increased 40% since demand is high since the Hurricane. We have managed to cover some of this.
Chuck and I work diligently each day to improve our situation here.
