Chuck Shearer’s Road to Recovery

Our dad was involved in a horrible accident the morning of September 4th at 8:30am. I received the worst phone call of my life. Our dad fell 32ft and was unconscious and transported to the hospital and fighting for his life. That day would change our lives forever and our outlook on many things. When my siblings and I, and the rest of my family arrived at the hospital, our dad was on a ventilator with multiple broken ribs, punctured lungs, bruised liver, fractured pelvis, hematoma of the brain and his right eye not opening due to impact of the fall and hearing loss to his right ear. He spent a week on a ventilator and is currently in the hospital waiting to be transferred to a rehabilitation center to learn the simple things in life we sometimes take for granted, like walking, eating, getting dressed on his own and showering.  Because of his severe head trauma, he will have a long hard road ahead of him. He is currently on worker’s comp, but don’t get confused, he does not get his full paycheck and bills do not stop coming in because you are in the hospital.  Our dad is always the first person to give his sandwich to another guy at work who forgot his lunch or help someone else out in need or pray for you during hard times.
